To accommodate expansion of the clinical and future patient spaces, McKenney’s relocated existing equipment for the Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Braselton, Georgia.
THE CHALLENGE
Fourteen rooftop fans, one MRI chiller, and two CRAC units serving the base hospital needed to be relocated to make way for the addition of one story onto the diagnostic and treatment wing and two stories onto the patient tower. All of these construction changes had to be completed without disrupting patient care in the live hospital environment.
THE SOLUTION
The McKenney’s team helped develop a detailed coordination plan for relocating and/ or replacing the equipment, carefully mapping out every step to ensure success. The plan kept everyone—the general contractor, electricians, controls subcontractor, hospital maintenance and operations staff, as well as McKenney’s internal sheet metal, HVAC piping and startup up/commissioning teams— involved, synchronized and on task.
THE RESULTS
Northeast Georgia Medical Center was able to continue providing services to patients during the equipment relocations, which paved the way for the build-out of the new floors.
