How To Measure Comfort? Count the Complaints.

When it comes to the healthcare industry, HVAC-related issues can have life-threatening consequences. Any disruption with the equipment and processes that medical personnel rely on can risk the safety and well-being of patients. It is imperative that healthcare facilities implement highly reliable HVAC and controls systems to safeguard continuous and uninterrupted services.

It seems simple enough, but identifying areas of repair can be a challenge. Following numerous daily complaints related to cooling issues, the facilities manager of a nationally recognized mental health facility in Charlotte, North Carolina, contacted the McKenney’s team to diagnose the problem. McKenney evaluated the issue and identified a proper course of action.

The customer was reluctant to engage in a new mechanical contractor but needed immediate results. McKenney’s proposed a strategy to address the controls section, which was their largest source of complaint. This approach aimed to demonstrate tangible results and gauge customer satisfaction. Through advanced controls, digital solutions, and services, the McKenney’s ACS team replaced the controls with improved programming to ensure optimal comfort and energy efficiency. Once repairs were completed, complaints went from 8 per day to zero.

This initial project in 2020 led to four additional projects, including two larger area control upgrades and a project to replace the existing JACE controllers. With proven reliability, McKenney’s is the go-to mechanical contractor for automation and control specific needs for this leading healthcare facility.
