McKenney’s completed a process cooling project for a metal casting system at a Georgia aluminum product manufacturing plant.
THE CHALLENGE
McKenney’s had extensive expertise in piping systems, however the coolant water process for the casting die system was unchartered territory. The original design document provided by the owner left many questions unanswered. Well into the installation McKenney’s learned the process cooling design document was not intended to be the final design.
THE SOLUTION
The McKenney’s team enlisted its vast knowledge of piping systems and construction to determine what was needed for the job. When the original pumps would not meet system requirements and keep the casting die cool during start-up, the team jumped in to provide design assistance for the owner and worked quickly with its pump vendor to resolve the issue.
THE RESULTS
McKenney’s insight and tenacity helped the project team master a new process and overcome many obstacles to ensure the cooling system performed properly.
