McKenney’s completed HVAC and plumbing renovations at a cancer center for a prominent regional medical facility in Kennesaw, Georgia.
The Challenge
Installation on the center’s second and third floors had to be performed without disrupting patient care on the bottom floor. To eliminate noise during the day, crews were limited to working overnight so the facility was available for patients, caregivers and visitors by 6:00 a.m. In addition, our team had to coordinate construction activities with another onsite contractor.
The Solution
Plumbing work was limited to Monday-Saturday from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. as crews carefully maneuvered around hospital furniture and equipment in confined spaces. Ductwork rough-in start times and all deliveries to the hospital were restricted to early morning hours to avoid unnecessary disturbances. The McKenney’s team also made daily adjustments to the construction schedule where necessary to minimize disruptions.
The Results
Despite site requirements for noise-free activity during daylight hours, HVAC and plumbing renovations were planned and completed within the short 180-day schedule required by the customer.
