The Big 5 of LEAN Construction

LEANSharing our ideas and values with others.

When we look at projects at McKenney’s, there are several areas where LEAN principles and waste reduction can really make an impact. Here’s how you can help!

Collaborate throughout the process

Keep communication and collaboration lines open throughout a project, being sure to involve others before and after your part of a process. This will help save time, reduce the risk of rework and improve project performance.

Work towards common victories

Team goals are much more impactful than individual achievements. Teams can work together, develop best practices and collectively create better ideas.

Projects are a network of commitments

Commitments involving schedule, quality, and safety can impact the entire project. The lasting and escalating effects of missing our goals can be far greater than we realize.

Optimize the project, not the pieces

When looking for improvements, we must look outside our own task, and ensure the impact has an overall positive impact for our team, the project, and ultimately the customer.

Tie tasks and learning together

It’s always better to share new techniques or even one that we try in an effort to improve a process. Everyone can learn important knowledge during these efforts regardless of whether the original idea had the result we expected.
