Good housekeeping is all about the phrase “a place for everything, and everything in its place.” On a jobsite or in the office, this means keeping our work areas clean and uncluttered, which is especially important when we’re sharing those areas with others. By engaging in good housekeeping practices and taking ownership of LEAN ideas, we can all be more productive and work more safely together.
To get everyone started, here are few tips to make good housekeeping an everyday practice:
- Keep every item needed to complete a task within either 30 seconds or 30 feet of your work area.
- Think of ways to organize your work area, like setting an Outlook reminder to de-clutter every Friday.
- Look for housekeeping items that could help make things safer for everyone.
